GEMS Default TDB Download
GEMS default thermodynamic database is part of the GEM-Selektor
program package for thermodynamic modelling of aquatic (geo)chemical
systems.
The GEMS default TDB is distributed free of charge to the users
affiliated to non-profit educational and research institutions, for
educational and research purposes only, subject to the Terms and Conditions of Use of GEM
Software.
Downloading the GEMS default TDB from this web page may be useful
e.g. for restoring
damaged DB.default/ files in your GEM-Selektor installation, or for
replacing the old default TDB with the updated one (if you have GEMS3.1
or GEMS3.2 installed).
Updated GEMS TDB with the PSI/Nagra chemical thermodynamic
database version 12/07
Save the downloaded file to a temporary location on your hard disk,
and unpack it. This should result in a "DB.default/" folder containing
*.pdb and *.ndx files.
GEMS TDB with the "kernel" Nagra-PSI chemical thermodynamic database
version 01/01
Save the downloaded file to a temporary location on your hard disk,
and unpack it. This should result in a "DB.default/" folder containing
*.pdb and *.ndx files.
How to install default TDBs
The installed GEM-Selektor
program looks for the default thermodynamic database files in the
following directory:
<gems3-app>/Resources/DB.default/
The exact form of
<gems3-app> depends on the PC platform, e.g.
"/Applications/Gems3.app/Contents/" in Mac OS ; "~/Gems3-app/" in Linux; "C:\Selektor\Gems3-app\" in Windows.
Shut down GEM-Selektor and replace damaged files (pairwise) in the DB.default/ folder with the downloaded ones. Alternatively (by upgrading the TDB), replace the whole DB.default/ folder.
Third-party databases in GEMS format can be added to the DB.default/ folder in the same way. After adding or removing files from this folder, make sure that GEM-Selektor is started once with the -d command line key to refresh configuration files (more ...).
